A 2019 Nissan driven by Bergen County resident Gina Jenkins of Montvale, age 39, was stopped on the parkway in Clarkstown on Saturday, March 1 at around 2:50 a.m. for alleged traffic violations, New York State Police announced on Sunday, March 10.

Jenkins was found to be impaired and taken into custody for DWI, police said.

Further investigation revealed that Jenkins had a child under 16 years old in the vehicle, elevating the charge to aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child, a felony under Leandra’s Law—New York’s strict child passenger protection law, according to authorities.

Police added that Jenkins later registered a blood alcohol content of .16%, which is twice the legal limit in New York State.

Jenkins was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Clarkstown Town Court on Wednesday, March 26, at 1:30 p.m.
